Location
Siracusa itself is steeped in history and culture, and offers a
fascinating link to the past thanks to its abundant archaeological
remains. The city was first founded by the Greeks in the 8th Century
BC and was one of the most important cities in the Mediterranean.
Fortunately, the architectural influences that have marked this
city are still visible today.
The Hotel Villa Politi was built back in 1862, designed by an Austrian
noblewoman - Maria Teresa L'Audien, after meeting her husband-to-be,
Salvatore Politi. Grand Hotel Villa Politi soon became a leading
Sicilian hotel thanks to its refined style and elegance, and this
continues to this day. The hotel is well located in a central part
of town and benefits from being very close to one of Siracusa's
gems : the ancient Greek Amphitheatre, carved from rock nearly 3,000
years ago. This is still used for performances today and only a
short stroll from the hotel.
